Candles should be stored in a cool place and away from firect sunlight.
Here are some guidelines to help you get the best result from your Naked for Satan Candle:
Numero Uno - Wooden wicks are different to regular wicks and as such necessitate special care. Before lighting, trim the wick to 1/4 inch (6mm). A high or smoking flame may indicate it requires more trimming. They also take longer to light and may even go out. Don't worry - it can take a couple of goes.
Burn your candle until the wax melts out to the edges of the container (approx 2 hours on first burn). Extinguishing sooner may result in excess wax sticking to the edge of the glass.
Subsequent Burns - These should be limited to three hours. After that the candle won’t release any more scent.
Pruning - Trim the wick after each burn. After gently breaking off any blackened parts of wick with your fingers - re-trim it to approximately 5mm.
Candle in the wind - If your candle is smoking excessively it may be in a drafty area or the wick is too long
(see Pruning).
Air Pockets and Cracks - Pockets of air may form between the container and the wax. All candles are sensitive to temperature variation so are prone to slight shrinkage and cracking. Soy wax has unique characteristics so imperfections are standard and will not affect the quality of your candle.
The final countdown - Never burn your candle to its base. Always leave approximately 5mm of wax to prevent the vessel from overheating. After cooling, if you place your candle in the freezer you'll find the remaining wax contracts which allows it to come out easily.
Reuse - At NFS we feel strongly that an empty candle should not be discarded. They make great little nik-nak containers, unless you want to send them back to be refilled (email for price list) or maybe you want to try making one yourself. We're always on hand for advice.
